Plan the detail with confidence01Review the supporting surface
Discuss the existing floor, removal and any preparation needed for the proposed system. A new finish should follow review of unevenness, damage or moisture concerns rather than hiding them.
Specify the actual product and installation requirements. A broad material label does not establish suitability for the existing supporting conditions.
02Coordinate cabinets and flooring
Fixed cabinetry and some flooring systems have installation restrictions that affect the sequence. Review the selected manufacturer’s instructions and the proposed cabinet arrangement together.
Consider future appliance access and the finished heights around the dishwasher, refrigerator and thresholds. These details need review before installations make them difficult to change.
03Plan transitions and trim
Identify where the kitchen floor meets adjacent rooms and how differences in material or level will be treated. Confirm the intended threshold detail rather than deciding it after the main floor is installed.
Review baseboards, casings, cabinet plinths and end panels. Clarify what is reused, replaced, painted or adjusted as part of the scope.
04Finish in a coordinated sequence
Painting, flooring and cabinetry need a practical order, with protection and final touch-ups agreed. Product availability and drying or installation conditions may affect the schedule.
Record who completes each finishing detail and what happens if removal exposes additional preparation. The quote should make these assumptions visible.
